Mayweather vs. Pacquiao is breaking Pay-Per-View and everyone’s freaking out
Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao figures to be one of the biggest TV events ... well, ever, and the Pay-Per-View standing between customers and the broadcast adds an extra step for things to go wrong. And they are going wrong. In the hours leading up to the fight, it seems like every cable entity responsible for giving people what they paid for is having serious issues:
We are aware of the issue impacting the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao feed. We are working to resolve as soon as possible.
— Charter (@CharterCom) May 3, 2015 @CorkGaines just called. Major outage. No estimated correction time. Servers completely overloaded supervisor said
— Hoya Vey (@HoyaVey) May 3, 2015 And it’s not just the fight itself. The Pay-Per-View madness is messing up whole TV packages, including Game 7 of Spurs-Clippers:
Besides people having issues ordering the fight, hearing other reports of freezing of feed and feed going to black. Systems being tested.

HBO and Showtime are obviously pretty freaked out, and so are their customers, who are hopping into peripheral livestreams to complain:

— Matthew Keys (@MatthewKeysLive) May 3, 2015 Whether or not these things get fixed in time for the fight start -- and hooooly crap it’ll be a mess if they don’t -- there are gonna be some angry people demanding refunds very soon. There’s just more demand for cable than there is supply at the moment, it seems.
