The Cowboys will train QBs with VIRTUAL REALITY HEADSETS

It’s the future! It’s here!

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

It's time for Tony Romo to get a Tron makeover. The Dallas Cowboys have just signed a deal with virtual reality startup StriVR Labs to train quarterbacks with VR helmets. The technology was originally developed by Derek Belch, a former kicker at Stanford University, and it was credited with turning the school's football program around.

The helmets are not currently interactive, but they do let players see a live-action 3-D replay of game action from the quarterback’s perspective from any angle. It’s like an FPS for QBs, and it allows players to train without requiring the whole team on the field.

StriVR has also signed deals with the Arkansas, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Auburn and Dartmouth football programs.
