The Atlanta Falcons™ announced today that their new stadium’s naming rights have been acquired by Mercedes-Benz™, which also owns the naming rights to the Mercedes-Benz™ Superdome in New Orleans™.
Mercedes-Benz™ to sponsor Falcons™ stadium to confusion, consternation of Saints™ fans

Beginning in 2017, the Falcons™ will be able to play their division Rival™, the New Orleans Saints™, in the Mercedes-Benz™ Superdome, or at home in the Mercedes-Benz™ Stadium or Mercedes-Benz™ Field or the Mercedes-Benz™ Domesuper, or whatever Mercedes-Benz™ Name™ they decide on.
Fans of the Falcons™ and Saints™ alike are not happy!
From the Times-Picayune:
“That has to be breach of contract,” NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune reader RCajun8 wrote. “Roger better stop this!!!”
“The falcan’ts have been copying the Saints’ systems for the past decade,” DeJaVu2015 wrote. “Nothing surprising about this.”
Added Adrian Bostick: “I don’t want to have ANYTHING in common with Atlanta! Ugh!”
@atlantafalcons This officially makes me sick. Are we going to change our name from the falcons to the saints now?http://t.co/o9iFlIsi6c
— Glen Pridgen (@glenpridgen) August 24, 2015 Why are the Falcons trying to copy the @Saints ? There can be only one stadium named Mercedes Benz ✊ #WhoDat
— Kräçkâ Tøñē (@Kingg_Tony) August 24, 2015 Why on EARTH would Mercedes Benz want to name the new Atlanta Stadium. They already own the Saints dome name now they want the Falcons too
— Sammy D. Logan (@Sammy_Socialite) August 21, 2015 “We could not be prouder to put ‘Mercedes-Benz’ on our stadium,” said the owner of the team that plays near-cataclysmic grudge matches in the Mercedes-Benz™ stadium every year.
