Inside-the-park home runs are often aided by a defensive misstep or a bit of luck. Miami Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto scored one on Tuesday thanks to an unusual bounce off the wall. Few inside-the-park home runs, however, are served up on a silver platter like Yoenis Cespedes did for Michael Taylor.
Washington scored an inside-the-park grand slam thanks to a horrendous defensive blunder

Not only did Cespedes’ blunder allow Taylor to round the bases, but it cleared the bases for the rare inside-the-park little league grand slam.
To his credit, Cespedes nearly made up for the error the following inning with a bases-clearing double that scored three runs. And the New York Mets went on to win the game so all is well.
