The single worst dunk contest attempt predictably ended with a bloody face
Dunk contests are great opportunities not only to show your athletic feats, but to include your teammates in it. Teammate participation is typically limited to small things but it works — except in this case when Trent Lockett and Peppe Poeta decided to go all out in the Italian All-Star contest. Lockette went for the dunk and Poeta pretended to be a photographer trying to get an action shot.
At first, it looks like a very impressive dunk even though Peppe is juuuust a little too close. But when you start looking at it closely, you realize the train wreck that this teammate dunk really is. Trent Lockett really isn’t close to making that. He’s pretty far away from making a powerhouse dunk.
Also, what is Lockett even wearing? He’s definitely not ready to dunk. This is probably one of the first dunk contest dunks that include a hat, and there have been a lot of props used throughout the years. Pro tip: don’t dunk in skinny jeans. Dunks aren’t as cool when you’re looking chic.
What’s more, HIS KNEE IS HEADING TO THE FACE OF HIS TEAMMATE.
What resulted was a pretty gnarly looking injury. Lockett knee gave Peppe a very impressive crimson mask. Luckily, he was okay but it spawned an ironic #PrayforPeppe hashtag on Twitter.
