If you’re wondering why the Panthers’ field looks pretty awful Sunday, it’s because of the Belk Bowl way back on Dec. 30. It became a problem after the Belk Bowl played out for four hours in the rain. It caused the turf to be very soft, which can cause slippage.
The Panthers’ field is so bad players are slipping and it’s an embarrassment
When the Panthers played Tampa Bay shortly after on Jan. 3, there were noticeable issues, but they were to be resolved for this playoff game. The crew at Bank of America Stadium had two weeks to get the turf right but as it turns out, it snowed this morning in Charlotte, making it even worse for the field. Players are slipping everywhere and it's already becoming a huge factor for this game.
You can see the slippage already happening with players. Hopefully nothing serious comes of it.
