Confused Australian child eats an entire watermelon RIND FIRST at cricket match

James Dator
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

Let’s get one thing out of the way right now: This is not an Australian thing. I was born there, I grew up there, I spent the first 18 years of my life there. Never have I seen a single person, child or otherwise, consume a watermelon rind first.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s discuss what’s going on here. This kid is at a Big Bash cricket game between the Melbourne Renegades and the Melbourne Stars. He needs a snack that will last about three hours, so why not an entire watermelon? This kid might be smarter than all of us. There’s a ton of stuff out there about watermelon rind being good for you. So, why not?
