Illinois paid tribute to Sam Foltz by gifting Nebraska an autographed uniform with his name on it

As a tribute to Nebraska kicker Sam Foltz, who died in a car crash this summer alongside Michigan State punter Mike Sadler, Illini players gave the Huskers a special autographed uniform that had Foltz’s name on the back.
Illinois is just one of the many teams that have showed Nebraska love after their tragic loss. Two weeks ago, Oregon left a bouquet of flowers on the 27-yard line, in honor of Foltz’s number. Last week, LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye, who was injured in the same car crash, paid tribute to both Foltz and Sadler by wearing their numbers on his cleats. One of the most profound tributes came from Nebraska themselves, when they lined up 10 men for their first punt against Fresno State, with Foltz’s spot being empty. They got a delay of game, but Fresno State declined the penalty and yardage as a sign of respect.
Football is often a heated sport, especially at the college level. To see teams come together to honor people that meant so much to their respective teams never ceases to be heartwarming.
