Countless times on this website, we’ve waxed poetic about how great Bill Murray is, mainly because, as the Chicago Cubs inch closer and closer to a potential World Series win, he’s the first guy we think of when we think of the Cubs.
Bill Murray picked a lucky Cubs fan to sit next to him during Game 6

Well, let’s solidify that Bill Murray love once more with a story about Karen Michel. Michel is a Cubs fan from Indiana who tried her best to buy a stray Game 6 ticket, but was unsuccessful because it was Game 6, the Indians were one game away from winning the World Series, and no one wanted to let go of the opportunity to see them win.
She got in anyway, because she saw Murray and he nonchalantly handed her a free ticket.
Disappointed but not surprised by her luck, Michel turned away from the ticket window. She soon noticed actor Bill Murray walking by, and, her interest piqued, she started to follow him.
What she wasn’t expecting was for Murray to turn around and hand her his extra World Series ticket.
“He turns around and says, ‘Here, here’s a ticket,’” she said. “And he kind of shuttled me into the door. I thought it was just a ticket to get in. But it was a ticket to sit right here.”
And yeah, Michel got to sit right next to Murray for over three hours, watching their favorite team make a comeback and force a Game 7. Oh, and the usual Cubs suspects were also right by her, like Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and NHL Hall of Famer Chris Chelios. Obviously, Michel was starstruck, but Murray and her had some down-to-earth conversations about the Cubs and watching them as kids.
“I asked, ‘When you went to the Cubs game, who did you go with?’” Michel said. “He said his brother and his father. I have all sisters, and me and my dad would go to the baseball games. We talked about stuff like that.”
Michel pretty much had the best Game 6 experience a Cubs fan could have. After learning about this, I wouldn’t be surprised if she joined Murray and Chelios at the bar right after the game.
