On Tuesday, President Obama awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Vin Scully, and Michael Jordan, who were among the 21 recipients announced last Wednesday. Obama ran through every person’s career highlights, noting how their work led them to receive the award — Obama had to bring in some jokes, though.

For Vin Scully, Obama thought about having him announce the citations as if he were back in the booth:
For Kareem Abdul-Jabbar -- who’s 7’2 in case you forgot -- Obama had a little trouble putting the medal on him.
For Michael Jordan, he got two jokes, one about Space Jam ...
... and of course, a nod to Crying Jordan.
So congratulations to Scully, Abdul-Jabbar, Jordan, and all the other recipients on being honored, and apologies to Michael Jordan for being reduced to “the guy from Space Jam.”
