The Chicago Cubs are World Series champions. It’s a phrase that, until now, we’ve only heard and read in movies, TV shows, and many Chicagoans’ dreams. Jubilation in Illinois. Heartbreak in Ohio.

First off, here’s how the Chicago Tribune showed off the Cubs’ World Series victory back in 1908. It’s just a little vertical strip taking up one-sixth of the front page.
And here’s how 2016’s Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday’s victory:
The front page of the Chicago Sun-Times:
And its wrapper:
Tribune sister publication RedEye:
Daily Herald:
And the best front pages from around the country, starting with the The Bakersfield Californian:
The Mercury News:
The Gazette:
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser:
Rockford Register Star:
Quad-City Times:
Boston Herald:
Guadalupe County Communicator (my personal favorite):
The New York Post, saying what every baseball fan is thinking after Game 7:
How The New York Times reported the Cubs’ 1908 World Series win:
And now in 2016:
Meanwhile, Ohio newspapers could only focus on the Cleveland Indians’ loss, starting with the Akron Beacon Journal:
The Repository:
The Columbus Dispatch:
The Chronicle-Telegram:
Like we said before Game 7, this could’ve only ended in maximum pain, and Ohio is feeling it the most right now.
