Scheming millennials turn their prom plans into a free hockey stick from Rangers player

There’s a lot to break down in this one tiny photo. Let’s discuss the official justification first.
Vinny asked Catherine to go to the prom with him. She was hesitant, and so she had a demand: He needed to obtain Mats Zuccarello’s stick. It was a mythical task the likes of which we haven’t seen since someone tried to remove Excalibur from the stone. Vinny made a sign, took Catherine to the Monday night Rangers game and ... it worked! Love prevailed and now it’s a date.
That’s what the kids want you to believe. Here’s my theory:
Catherine said yes to Vinny. Why do I know this? Because firstly, she likes him enough to go to a Rangers game with him and secondly he has his arm around her in the photo. These kids know each other well. These kids like each other. Dare I say, these teenagers may, in fact, love each other -- or at least that 17-year-old kind of love that totally won’t last but you think it’s forever.
They formulated a plan: Turning their love into profit. Zuccarello was their patsy. What’s better than having a prom date? Having a prom date AND a free hockey stick.
Ugh ... millennials.
