Kevin Durant was ejected for striking Justin Anderson in the head after Game 4 was basically decided
The game was virtually over with a minute left in Game 4 of the NBA playoff series between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder, but the chippy behavior throughout the game still continued.
With a minute left in the game, Justin Anderson attempted a pass in the paint to David Lee but was hit in the head by Kevin Durant from behind.
Because the hit was directed towards Anderson’s head, the call merited a flagrant foul. The officials examined the play further and called it a Flagrant 2. Durant was ejected from the game as a result.
For what it’s worth, Kevin Durant did try to make his way to Anderson to apologize for the hit, but his request was denied. Now it may be up to the NBA to decide if Durant’s hit merits a suspension as well.
Based on what occurred postgame, Durant genuinely did want to apologize to Anderson. The two seem to have made amends.
