Man sets world record on jet-powered hoverboard that can go 93 mph

James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.
Franky Zapata holds the new world record for the longest flight on a hoverboard. No, this isn’t one of those wheeled contraptions that bursts into flames -- it’s an honest to goodness hoverboard. The jet-powered Flyboard Air was Zapata’s creation and he took it on a 7,388-foot flight along the coast in southern France.
This is an evolution of Zapata’s first Flyboard, which required it to be tethered to a boat. This new version can reach a terrifying height of 10,000 feet and travel 93 miles per hour.
This really feels like we’re living in the future.
