This fish jumped on a boat to evade a shark, then realized it’s a fish

This is a tarpon being chased by a hammerhead shark off the Florida coast. Desperate to escape, the tarpon jumps up onto the boat, before wriggling off and ultimately (it appears) being nabbed by the hammerhead for an afternoon appetizer.

What’s a shame for the tarpon is that he could have just waited out the shark by chilling on the boat. Tarpons are sportfish, which are caught and usually released. Plus, humans are usually benevolent, and surely they would have honored the tarpon for his creativity, driving him to safety before releasing him. Ah well. Tarpons are only so creative, you know.
