Auburn softball player saves Tigers’ season with spectacular home run-robbing catch

Even in a meaningless game with nothing on the line, this catch by Auburn’s Tiffany Howard would be spectacular. She tracked the ball beautifully, timed it perfectly and went up and over the wall to bring back a home run.
When you add in the stakes of the situation, it’s one of the best catches of the year.
Auburn is playing Oklahoma in the Women’s College World Series national championship series. The series is a best-of-three affair and Oklahoma won Game 1. That put Auburn in a win or go home situation. The game was knotted at 7-7 in the top of the sixth inning. Had Howard not robbed that home run, Oklahoma would have had a two-run lead and needed just six outs to clinch a national title.
Howard’s catch may have saved the game and the season.
To make it even better for Auburn, the Tigers went on to win thanks to a walk-off grand slam in extra innings. An 11-7 win after trailing 7-0. And they couldn’t have done it without this incredible catch.
