There are double plays, then there’s THIS double play. Pirates draft pick Stephen Alemais turned in one of the best throws we’ve seen in a long, long time. Here’s how it went down: The batter bunts the ball into home base, which pops it to the catcher. He fires it into second where Alemais is playing. Now, Alemais isn’t in the best position to make the catch, but does so anyway. As he’s falling, he somehow manages to fire this into first -- accurately.
That’s not just improbable, it’s uncanny. There are so many questions about the throw, but the real one we have is: Why the heck weren’t the announcers more amped?
