Ivan ‘Pudge’ Rodriguez was hoping for good news on Wednesday evening. And he got it.
What he probably didn’t expect was the overwhelming feeling that he would get answering the phone and realizing he had just been elected as a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
With his family by his side, the seven-time Silver Slugger and 1999 AL MVP sobbed as he learned the news he would be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. He’s completely overjoyed. And who wouldn’t be? The ultimate validation of your life’s work surrounded by those you love is hard to come by.
