The Dallas Stars had the best gag on an emotional day. Late in their game against the Washington Capitals, the Stars put their attendance numbers on the big screen — 1.5 million — the exact number quoted by Donald Trump in response to photos and estimates showing his inauguration was far less popular than that of Barack Obama.
In the interest of fairness, we must report that the Stars lied about their attendance. American Airlines Center holds 19,323 people when at its standing room capacity for hockey, meaning to hit the 1.5 million mark they’d need to sell out 77.62 games.
