Back in September, British comedian Michael Dapaah went on BBC Radio 1Xtra to spit a freestyle as his rap persona Big Shaq. His verse turned out to be the incredible track “Man’s Not Hot,” — aka “The Ting Goes.”
Shaq is back to rapping with a new song dissing comedian Big Shaq
Shaq has a bone to pick with the “Man’s Not Hot” rapper.
The clip went viral, even turning into a real song that charted on streaming services and that Dapaah now performs live. But apparently, not everyone loved it.
Shaq — yes, THE Shaquille O’Neal — apparently doesn’t like other rappers using his name — especially not with “Big” in front of it. So he joined up with a Toronto rapper named ShaqIsDope (whose name sounds like Shaq’s version of a Kevin Durant burner account) and wrote a diss track about the comedian.
Incredible — that’s three Shaqs in one song! In fact, that’s arguably the world record for most Shaqs on one track!
“There’s a lot of people that are named after me — Shaquille, Shaq. But keep in mind... there’s only one Big Shaq. It is I ... the originator, the dominator, the creator,” Shaq warns over the beat from Big Shaq’s freestyle before launching into a honestly decent verse.
Actually, this isn’t the first time Shaq (former NBA player, current rapper) and ShaqIsDope (never an NBA player, current rapper) have collabed — in 2013, they both rapped on a truly horrendous remix of Future’s “Karate Chop.”
So while this new track is WAY better than his old one, it still seems like Shaq and ShaqIsDope should be careful about dissing Big Shaq.
After all, Big Shaq does have a ting that goes krrrahh, pap, pap, ka-ka-ka skibiki-pap-pap, and a pu-pu-pudrrrr-boom skya, du-du-ku-ku-dun-dun poom, poom.
And Shaquille O’Neal has just four NBA Championship rings.
