A huge crash at Talladega Superspeedway during Sunday’s Alabama 500 took out 16 cars — including half of the race’s contenders for the NASCAR Playoffs.

The “Big One” was one of three red flag crashes at the Alabama 500.

Wow.
That’s a NASTY crash.
The crash ended the race for favorites Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Jimmie Johnson. According to a report on NASCAR.com, Treux Jr. said he was responsible for the accident.
“Just was trying to get to the end and get some track position and try to get towards the front and have a good day and ended up causing a wreck, so I hate it for everybody,” he said.
The wreck was one of three red flag accidents during the race — and by the end of the race, only 15 cars technically finished, according to autosport.com.
In the end, Brad Keselowski won the race — and on his 300th start no less. Not a bad race to win, even one with this much chaos.
