Stephen A. Smith was up in the home arena of the Houston Rockets, the Toyota Center, and decided to get some shots up. That’s cool. I mean, who wouldn’t want to get shots up in an NBA arena, right?
Stephen A. Smith’s airball is why you don’t let people record you shooting hoops
The airball caused a cold front.

It didn’t go well.
In a tweet posted by James Harden, Stephen A. gets nothing but net on his first shot attempt, but it didn’t go through the cylinder first. Airball.
Let’s investigate here for a moment.
At the start of Harden’s video, we hear Stephen A. say, “That’s a do-over,” which clearly indicates whatever went on before the 15 seconds captured by Harden’s photog were not good, either.
That struggle grunt you hear from Stephen A. followed by “this is bad” after the first shot tells you everything you need to know. We all know the guy at the gym or your uncle that would come outside when you are shooting in the driveway and wanted to “show you how it’s done” and he didn’t show you jack. That was this.
Hey, at least he caught rim on the second shot. But you also have to know your capabilities and can’t set yourself up for failure like this. The risk of looking awful is much greater than the reward if you knock those shots down.
Get some arc on that shot, Stephen A. That was more flat than the Falcons in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl (I can make that joke, I’m from Atlanta).
