Well, Mr. Burns had done it. The power plant had won it — and that was 25 years ago!
Baseball Hall of Fame will celebrate 25th anniversary of ‘The Simpsons’ episode ‘Homer at the Bat’
We’re talking softball at the Hall.

According to the Associated Press, The Simpsons episode, “Homer at the Bat,” will be honored at the Baseball Hall of Fame. The episode featured Homer Simpson trying out for the nuclear power plant’s softball team, all while Mr. Burns loads up his company and roster with major league talent in order to win a millionaire’s bet.
Among those major leaguers are Jose Canseco, Ozzie Smith, Wade Boggs, Ken Griffey Jr., and Don Mattingly. “Homer at the Bat” is considered one of the series’ best episodes. From Homer’s Wonderbat to Mr. Burns’ fascination with Mattingly’s sideburns, every scene in this is a Simpsons classic.
The Baseball Hall of Fame will celebrate the episode’s silver anniversary with a round-table discussion at the Hall on May 27. Producers Al Jean and Mike Reiss, director Jim Reardon, executive story editor Jeff Martin, and casting director Bonnie Pietila will be joined by Boggs and Smith.
Here’s the plaque the Hall of Fame made just for Homer:
We’re just glad that Smith was able to escape the other dimension that is the Springfield Mystery spot after all these years to make an appearance.
