Minor League hockey player suspended after fight spills off ice into locker room area

Rivalry!

Fighting is still an integral part of hockey. But the unwritten rule is that it stays on the ice.

So no wonder the American Hockey League has suspended Iowa Wild forward Kurtis Gabriel indefinitely for his actions over the weekend when he let an in-game fight spill over into a hallway.

The Minnesota Wild prospect got into a scrum with Chicago Wolves (and St. Louis Blues) defenseman Vince Dunn late in a game on Saturday after Gabriel laid a big hit on him that Dunn didn’t like. You can find it around the 4:10 mark here:

And then Gabriel went after Dunn as they both headed off to the locker rooms. It did not end well for him.

The AHL suspended Dunn indefinitely “pending completion of a league review of his actions in a game at Chicago on Feb. 25.”
