You’re probably wondering why the treadmill has to be underwater, because I was pondering the same thing. It turns out the warm water is key in increasing blood flow and helping a pupper stay motivated, which makes it key in pet rehabilitation. It also means the dog can always have a drink if needed.
The Butler Bulldog has no distinct need to be underwater, but the tank likely means it will stay on course and not just jump off the treadmill. Plus watching a pooch run on an underwater treadmill is adorable.
This isn’t the first time a good sports dog has used one of these apparatuses. Mississippi State’s bulldog did as well, but had really cool swimming goggles and got treats.
