Wisconsin brought back Crying Piccolo Player after beating Villanova and Twitter loved it
But then, the school’s Twitter account went for the jugular.
Yup, that’s Roxanne Chalifoux — Crying Villanova Piccolo Player — who became a meme in 2015 after she bravely played her heart out through a Villanova tournament loss.
SB Nation’s Tyler Tynes talked to her at the time. She found it pretty weird:
It’s all pretty weird. I found out several hours after the game since my phone had died. When it had charged, there was so much happening. At first I was really overwhelmed, but I got a lot of support from people at Villanova and all over the country. I decided it was best to make the most out of it and laugh with everyone else. I find most of it pretty funny anyway!
Now? She seems to be doing OK. That 2016 title helps.
But that didn’t stop the internet from eating up Wisconsin’s tweet.
