2017’s Final Four teams have 24 combined Final Four appearances. UNC has 20 of them.

One of these teams is not like the other. (It’s the Tar Heels, like I said in the headline.)

The first three teams to make the Final Four were Gonzaga and South Carolina — who have never made it this far in the NCAA tournament — and Oregon, who hasn’t gone since 1939.

Then there’s UNC rounding out the field.

Yeah, UNC has 20 Final Four appearances alone, the most of any team in NCAA men’s basketball history.

But that’s history. To put it in more relevant terms: Roy Williams has coached 520 minutes of Final Four basketball, while the other three remaining coaches have coached zero combined.

That might have something to do with why almost no one saw this Final Four coming.

So, yeah. He hasn’t won yet but Roy Williams has good reason to be dancing.
