Things became very bizarre when British runner Laura Muir won gold in the 1500 meters at the European Indoor Athletics Championships. The runner, who had never won a gold before, just wanted to take a customary victory lap — but an official said no.
This British runner had to juke a track official to take victory lap after winning her 1st gold

Muir kept trying to get around the official, who did her best to block the runner’s path. The reasoning behind trying to stop the lap was because proceedings were already behind schedule, but announcers felt that trying to stop Muir’s moment was unfair, regardless of the time.
Laura Muir refused to be denied. She was going to have her moment.
This is a solid move. She walks away from the official like “Yeah, you got me” only to put on the juke and take the lap anyway. This was her moment, and schedule be damned — she was going to take it. Her quote after the race is just the best.
“I had to fight for that, didn’t I?” said a smiling Muir afterwards. “They said: ‘We don’t have time.’ I thought, it’s my first medal. I’m not going to lose out on my lap of honour. I’m going. Andy, my coach, was saying: ‘Do it,’ so I got there in the end.
“I couldn’t really believe what she was saying. But I thought: ‘At the end of the day, she won’t be able to catch me.’”
Well done.
