Twitter user tricked Oakland A’s president into thinking somebody died from marijuana overdose
(You can’t die from a marijuana overdose.)

If there’s one rule on Twitter dot com, it’s this: don’t tweet. Sometimes you’re better off not hitting send on that quick 140-character message. If you decide to break that rule, then I advise you to double check your tweet, especially if you’re a public figure responding to a fan.
Fans type the most absurd things to get responses on Twitter. If you don’t believe me, just check out the tweet right below your favorite athlete or artist’s tweet. They’re either vulgar as hell or just so weird that your first instinct is to react Alonzo Mourning style.
But the most dangerous fan tweets are the ones that walk the line between sincere and head-scratching. This fan, @Ross_689, asked Dave Kaval, president of the Oakland A’s and San Jose Earthquakes, for a retweet because a loved one died — of a marijuana overdose.
A marijuana overdose.
You can not die from a marijuana overdose. Not that many people may know this, but that’s what makes this subtle troll so effective. This fan knows that marijuana can’t be fatal based on his subsequent tweets. He was just trying to get a RT from Kaval so that he’d look foolish. It worked. But you can’t knock Kaval for trying to be nice.
Don’t tweet but if you do, please tweet responsibly and read what you’re posting.
