Oh, Italy.
Italy exits hockey World Championship with tragically magnificent own goal
Poor Italy.

The Italians were essentially already eliminated from the IIHF World Championship when they played Denmark on Monday. They were 0-6-1, after all. Their goal-differential was minus-26.
So, they took their leave in the most spectacular way: an own-goal with their goalie pulled.
Congratulations to former NHLer Peter Regin on the easiest goal he’ll ever score. And our condolences to Alexander Egger for becoming the face of Italy’s hockey prowess on the international stage. At least it was amazing?
