Charles Barkley told Shaq he rode ‘on Kobe’s coattails’ in insult exchange on TNT
Were they just having fun?
Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley are always talking trash to each other on TNT. Most of the times, it’s playful and harmless. One will call the other fat, and then they’ll both chuckle. But sometimes, it gets real personal real fast.
This started with the TNT crew giving brief Game 5 predictions, when Shaq decided to dismiss Barkley’s opinion because he only made the NBA Finals once and lost. Conveniently, Shaq had a big ol’ ring ready to show off. Then Chuck listed all the people who helped out Shaq get those rings: Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, and Alonzo Mourning.
Shaq didn’t like that much so he fired off with, “People question why you’re in the Hall of Fame anyway, bum.”
They continued talking trash for so long it got kind of awkward for Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith. Whether they were still playing or things really got serious is up in the air, but it was entertaining as hell.
They looked like they were having fun after the exchange.
