Padres fan injured after Hector Sanchez’s bat goes into the stands
Medical staff quickly attended to her.
A scary moment in San Diego on Thursday afternoon.
In the ninth inning, Padres catcher Hector Sanchez lost hold of his bat and it went flying into the stands. The bat hit a nearby fan in the head and the game was temporarily on hold until medical staff treated the fan for injuries. The staff bandaged her head and walked her away from her seat.
Following the incident, the Padres released this statement on Twitter:
Sanchez talked to reporters about the incident after the game:
It’s pretty bad. I feel really really bad about it, especially when I saw that it hit a lady...I hope she’s well and I hope [the medical staff] takes care of her.
