Ugh, running. It’s like walking, but faster and sweatier and just ... grosser. So if you’re going to go for a run, you might as well make it interesting — which is exactly what one man did to honor the Golden State Warriors’ latest NBA championship win:
This man ran 50 miles to write ‘Warriors 2017 NBA Champs’ on a map
Sounds exhausting!

According to The Washington Post, the fan ran 50 miles to spell “Warriors 2017 NBA Champs” on the map of his distance-tracking app is an Englishman named Jim Plunkett-Cole, or “Jim Gump,” as he goes by online. He’s attempting to run 20,000 miles like Forrest Gump did, and San Francisco is just one of his stops.
Plunkett-Cole isn’t even a huge basketball fan — he was running (naturally) instead of watching the game. But he loved the energy the NBA Finals brought to the city so much that he decided to honor the team’s victory.
“It seemed to be something that was bringing people together. What inspired me was their passion for their team,” he told The Washington Post.
While running 50 miles to write a message in invisible running ink might seem excessive to some, it’s hard not to give Plunkett-Cole props for NOT choosing to use his talents to draw genitals, as many have.
Uh, nice?
Well, Jim Plunkett-Cole, thanks for drawing such a wholesome and supportive message with your running! It’s another great way for San Francisco to celebrate, and good luck with your “run, Forrest, run” inspired adventure.
In the meantime, maybe the Warriors can run this path as a way to stay in shape this offseason! Probably not a bad idea for the current NBA champs.
