Cristiano Ronaldo’s new ad campaign with Nike features the Real Madrid star as a child and the slogan “This boy knew.”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s childhood photo was cropped by Nike to hide his Adidas sweatshirt

What did young Ronaldo know precisely? Perhaps that he would become a superstar. Maybe that he was going to become one of the best players of all time. It could be that he knew Adidas gear was better than Nike’s.
That’s right. Nike cropped the photo, pulled it into a head shot, erased all signs of the Adidas sweatshirt, and photoshopped in a new background to erase all other advertising.
It’s a fun advertising faux pas. Nike could have literally used any photo of young Ronaldo not repping Adidas, but they didn’t — and the internet had a field day.
Welp.
