This soccer goal was so perfect ... except it was an own goal

This is terrible but also kind of amazing.

Eibar’s Jose Angel had a beautifully placed goal in the 66th minute of his team’s game against Schalke on Sunday. The only problem with the kick (which had beautiful spin by the way) was it sent the ball into his own team’s goal. That’s... bad.

Jose, buddy, what were you thinking there? It was so clearly going over his goalie’s head. That broke what was a 0-0 tie more than halfway through the game.

Angel put his shirt over his face in disbelief in the seconds after as he tried to assess how the heck that even just happened.

The slowed down replay shows the goalie’s effort to stop the disaster, but even a diving backwards leap couldn’t stop the disappointing lowlight.

If you’re going to make a big-time mistake, at least make it an impressive one is what I always say though. Jose Angel succeeded in doing exactly that on Sunday.
