This Paul Pierce wax statue is an absolute travesty

James Dator
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

It’s nice for a town to honor a sports star after their retirement, but this wax statue of Paul Pierce should be burned in a fire and never spoken of again.

The statue, which is in the Dreamland Wax Museum in Boston, is the Cristiano Ronaldo statue of NBA likenesses. It looks like someone found the stunt double from a made-for-TV movie about Delonte West and made a sculpture of him instead. It’s such an insult.

Maybe I’m being a little harsh. Perhaps this is EXACTLY like Paul Pierce and I just forgot what he looks like. Let me check an iconic photo of the Celtics legend, just to make sure.

I guess it’s closer than I remember.
