The Phillies had a really bizarre fifth inning, which featured the most pointless pickoff attempt of all time and also an incredible triple-play. Let’s start with the “what the heck was he thinking” throw to first that most certainly did not catch the baserunner, or in this case, the basestander.

The inning got better for Philadelphia though, and it all started, of course, with newfound hero Rhys Hoskins. He dove and caught a fly ball which kickstarted an incredible triple-play.
