It didn’t take a great amount of skill to predict that Floyd Mayweather would beat Conor McGregor in a boxing match, but the internet is obsessing over a man who seemingly predicted the end to the fight perfectly.
This sneaky genius convinced the world he perfectly predicted the end of the Mayweather-McGregor fight

This image began making the rounds on Reddit early on Sunday after it shows a man from New Zealand predicting the ending, round, and way McGregor would lose — as well as the reaction from fans. It immediately made the front page and people began to marvel at the predictive skills of this man.
There’s just one problem: It was a well-executed trick, and everyone is falling for it. In the past we’ve explained the trick behind Twitter accounts that predict the future. Essentially a protected account tweets every possible outcome, deletes the incorrect ones, and makes the account public — so it looks like a sage prediction. This is a variant on that.
The boxing fan who made the prediction just went back and edited his original post, which kept the time stamp and made him look like a genius.
Facebook makes it so incredibly easy to pull this without any real effort. The fan is enjoying his newfound fame and making no attempt to hide his account from view.
Let this be a reminder to all of us: Most detailed sports predictions are fake. Conspiracies are easily explained and the less we fall for them, the better.
