New year, new Bengals — just kidding.
Bengals fans are livid after learning about Marvin Lewis’ extension
It’ll be okay, Bengals fans.

The Bengals’ last game in the 2017 season was a win against the Ravens, and it propelled the Bills into the playoffs. Not only that, but the victory was tentatively a warm conclusion to the Marvin Lewis era. There were rumors that it would be his last game as Bengals head coach.
But to quote the late Charlie Murphy, “Wrong. WRONG.”
Cincinnati and Lewis agreed to a two-year extension on Tuesday. As soon as the announcement was made on the Bengals’ twitter account, fans rushed to express their opinion on their head coach that has been with the team since 2003. Most of it was not positive.
It was such a shock to some fans that they thought this news came from a parody account (which, depending on your take on the Bengals, could still be technically correct).
Others were just outraged at the news. Marvin Lewis has a 125-112-3 record and made the postseason seven times, so he and the Bengals have seen some success. However, that didn’t seem to placate fans.
Now that you mention it, Lewis does look surprised and disappointed in that photo. it’s almost like both expressions of the Alonzo Mourning reaction GIF happening at the same time.
But to be honest, that might be how Bengals fans must be feeling about the extension too.
