Chris Paul turned the ball over when he high fived James Harden’s mom

This might be the first whistle for high fiving a mom in NBA history.

We’ve seen a great many things in the NBA, but getting whistled for high fiving your teammate’s mom? Chris Paul can now say he’s done it.

Paul celebrated early during the closing moments of the Rockets’ win over the Jazz Monday night, giving Monja Willis a high five as she stood courtside. One problem: Harden’s mom was out of bounds, Paul was not — so he got whistled when their hands made contact.

It didn’t change the outcome, but it’s still impressive to see a high five result in a turnover. Especially high fiving a mom. My mom never gave me high fives.
