After watching this video I’m convinced we need to make the Hotel Relay an Olympic sport.
Running a relay race inside a hotel is the new sport of the summer
Welcome to the #HotelRelayChallenge.

Antwuane Johnson, a high school track star and future student at Texax A&M Corpus Christi, turned his hotel into a track meet — along with the help of a few friends. They ran a relay race around the circumference of their hotel, on multiple levels, all at the same time.
I don’t adequately have words for how into this I am. The stacked look has a total Judge Dread vibe, which is an aesthetic I’m totally into, and the Hotel Relay could have all sorts of fun organic obstacles that runners need to deal with.
- The dude in room 425 getting ice in a bathrobe.
- Room service delivering cake to room 537.
- The newspaper left outside room 311, leading to a beautiful disaster.
I’ve thought for a while that we need more obstacle course-style events in the Olympics. There’s a reason stuff like American Ninja Warrior is so popular, and the summer games should definitely capitalize on them.
I just hope this video inspires more people to do the #HotelRelayChallenge, mostly because I want to see more.
