The Packers held their annual charity softball game on Saturday and it was a great success — except for Clay Matthews.
Clay Matthews needs surgery after taking line drive to face during charity softball game

Matthews took a line drive to the face in a freak occurrence and immediately covered his nose with his glove while he walked off the field. The crowd were stunned, not completely sure what happened other than the star linebacker being hit in the face, but later in the day he shared what happened.
The injury (although painful) shouldn’t cause Matthews to miss any offseason activities.
“It’s unfortunate. It’s for a great cause. We’re just glad he’s OK,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Monday. “I’m not going to overreact to this.”
Thankfully, Matthews’ nose took the brunt of an impact, and as Clay mentioned, could have been much worse. A fractured orbital socket or jaw could have caused him to miss much more time.
