DeAngelo Williams got hit with a steel chair in his return to pro wrestling
That looked painful.

DeAngelo Williams is back! No, he’s not making his NFL return — he’s going back to wrestling.
On Thursday’s episode of Impact Wrestling, the former Panthers and Steelers running back made an appearance only to be interrupted by Impact World Champion Austin Aries. DeAngelo boasted about how Moose, a former NFL player-turned-wrestler, would take the gold. Aries took offense to that and thanks to a kick to the groin and a chair shot to the back, knocked Williams out.
Even though wrestling is predetermined, it looks like Williams ran into that nutshot more than he needed to. Aries and Williams continued their feud outside the squared circle when DeAngelo tweeted this:
As with most pro wrestling storylines, you should expect this feud to end in a match.
Williams has wrestled for Impact before. Last year during their Slammiversary pay-per-view, he teamed up with Moose to face Chris Adonis and Eli Drake in a tag team match. Being the focus of that match, Williams grabbed the momentum from the hot tag — wrestling jargon for energetically entering the fight to save your weakened partner — and showcased a an impressive move set.
The samoan drop was clean and the fast transition into a standing moonsault onto his opponent is something all professional wrestlers work vigorously to pull off smoothly. And Williams did that in his first official match. He looks like a natural and can only get better the more he wrestles. Going from football to pro wrestling is actually a common occurrence. The Rock, Roman Reigns, and Goldberg all played football before they ever held a wrestling title.
