Philip Rivers doesn’t hide his emotions, winning or losing — and on Sunday the Chargers got dismantled by the Patriots, leading up to this astounding suite of Rivers’ reactions.
The Chargers’ meltdown, as told through Philip Rivers’ facial expressions
A no good, terrible, very bad day.

Honestly, it’s just unfair. It’s not like we want to clown on Philip Rivers. This season had a decided air of “maybe this year” to stop him being a modern day Dan Marino, but as it stands he’s destined to be a Hall of Fame quarterback who never made it to the Super Bowl, and that’s sad. Anyway, let’s wash that disappointment from our minds by relishing these reactions.
When you know something stinks and you’re not quite sure what.
Something definitely smells ...
Then you realize the stank was you.
So you’ve got to scramble and try to come up with a plan.
Then just when you think it couldn’t get worse someone calls you out.
So you accept that things are bad, and there’s nothing you can do about it. At least you can try to grind through the day and spend some quality time with the fam.
Then you find out Cracker Barrel doesn’t offer free food for kids on Tuesdays anymore.
Just EVERYTHING is going wrong today.
You’re trying to keep your cool, but nothing can wipe that scowl off your face.
You just need one thing to go right — just one. You’ve stunk all day, work’s been awful ... can’t SOMEONE help.
