They can only make Toronto’s playoff road a little harder.

With a 92-68 record, the Blue Jays have clinched a playoff spot. They are also closing in on a division title, and with the Seattle Mariners losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night, that means that the winner of the AL East will be the top seed in the American League playoffs.

That means the road to the World Series could run through the Rogers Centre in the American League.

However, the Blue Jays enter play on Saturday with the same record as the New York Yankees. Toronto holds a tiebreaker over the Yankees based on their 8-5 record against New York this season, so they could clinch the East today. To do that, they would need to win against Tampa Bay, and they would need the Yankees to lose to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon.

Any other combination, and the AL East crown goes down to the final day.
