Sunday afternoon, Jason Heyward banged into the right field wall attempting to catch a long drive off the bat of Mike Fontenot. It looked at the time like he might have jammed his right wrist, but when he collapsed forward and remained down for several minutes, it was apparent he was dealing with something else. And though it didn't end up being too serious and Heyward was able to remain in the game, he admits that he did so at less than full strength:
Jason Heyward Shaken Up Making Catch; Should Start Game 4
“For the next five innings, my eyes, it felt like it was hard to keep them open,” he said. “I am kind of sore right now. My jaw is kind of sore. It was tough, but I had to hang in there.”
It's possible that Heyward may have suffered a mild concussion on the play. He'll be re-evaluated in advance of Monday night's game and should find himself in the starting lineup, but given that he's been held hitless so far in the series, the Braves can't exactly be eager about the notion of getting Heyward at something less than 100%.
