First things first: Derek Lowe spun another solid half-inning, striking out both Buster Posey and Juan Uribe in a 1-2-3 second. Then it was Madison Bumgarner's turn to post a zero, although his frame didn't come without some anxious moments. Bumgarner retired the first two batters he faced, but then Jason Heyward clocked in with his first hit of the series - a bloop single to left.
Braves Vs. Giants, NLDS Game 4: Madison Bumgarner Escapes Big Trouble In Second
Up next was Troy Glaus, who hit a grounder to Mike Fontenot at third, but Fontenot's throw for the force at second was high, and all runners were safe. Bumgarner subsequently walked Rick Ankiel to load the bases.
This being the National League, though, Ankiel was followed by the pitcher’s spot in the order, and Lowe flew out to right to end the inning. It’s 0-0 as we head to the third.
