Inheriting a two-on, two-out situation from Madison Bumgarner, all Santiago Casilla had to do was get one more out. One more out, and the Giants would've gone into the bottom of the fifth on top 2-1.
Phillies Vs. Giants, NLCS Game 4: Santiago Casilla Has A Nightmare Appearance
It didn't go that way. The first batter Casilla faced was Placido Polanco, and on a 2-2 pitch, Polanco split the outfielders by sending a ball to the left-center gap. The double scored both Shane Victorino and Chase Utley, giving the Phillies a 3-2 lead.
The next batter was Ryan Howard, and the Giants decided to issue an intentional walk to get to a righty, but then Casilla clipped Jayson Werth's jersey with an inside pitch to load the bases. And with the bases loaded, Casilla uncorked a wild pitch that scored another run and allowed everyone to move up.
Jimmy Rollins would end up striking out and ending the inning there, but the Phillies struck for four, and have a 4-2 lead at the halfway point.
