It was a bit of an unfamiliar situation for Javier Lopez in the seventh inning, when the lefty specialist was called on to come in out of the San Francisco bullpen and face a couple righties. But Lopez was able to do the job and protect the Giants' one-run lead.

Lopez issued a dangerous leadoff walk to Shane Victorino, which was never anybody's plan. The left-handed Chase Utley then stepped in, and he bailed out on an outside slider and popped the ball up in the infield. Utley held his head down and didn't so much as look at his own pop-up.
With one down, Placido Polanco came up. Lopez threw him a 1-1 fastball on the low-away corner, and Polanco grounded a ball right to Freddy Sanchez at second base. Sanchez started a textbook 4-6-3 double play to end the inning and send us to the stretch.
