World Series Game 2, Rangers Vs. Giants: Matt Cain, C.J. Wilson Solid In Second
The second saw our first baserunner, but it didn't see our first run. Matt Cain returned to the mound and got things started with another solid frame. He struck out Nelson Cruz on a low, away changeup to kick things off. After that, Ian Kinsler lifted a long fly into right field that sent Cody Ross back near the wall, but as Ross reached with his hand to feel for the bricks, the wind may have knocked the ball down, and Ross made the catch in front of the warning track.
David Murphy made the final out by rolling a grounder to Freddy Sanchez.
That brought C.J. Wilson back out for his half, and Wilson, like Cain, started with a strikeout. He froze Pat Burrell with a 1-2 low fastball for the first out.
Up next was Cody Ross, and Ross was able to deliver the first hit of the game for either team. He pulled a fastball into left field and slid into second for a one-out double.
He'd end up stranded, though, when Aubrey Huff grounded out, and Juan Uribe sent an easy fly into straightaway center. We head to the third even at 0-0, with Cain at 20 pitches, and Wilson at 32.
